Colorado Springs is situated at the bottom of one of the most famous landmarks in the United States. Pike’s Peak, that has the summit that inspired ‘America the Beautiful’, is a popular tourist destination. Visitors still congregate on the peak, and they can drive, or choose to ride the railway (Pikes Peak Cog Railway). They can even hike to the summit, which sits at 14,115 feet above sea level.
During the summer, experienced drivers go to Pikes Peak to take part in a race that goes from Mile 7 to the fourteener’s summit that is located on the Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.
Garden Of The Gods
One of the most stunning parks in the country, this city park is located near the foothills of Pikes Peak. The rock formations are absolutely beautiful, and creates a draw that brings photographers looking to capture the best shot of the rocks surrounding the snowcapped Pikes Peak.
U.S. Olympic Training Centers
One of the three Olympic training centers is located in Colorado Springs. Visitors to the centers can sit back and watch the best athletes in the country practice and train.
You can also visit the United States Air Force Academy. This is one of the top military academies in the country. There are several areas of the academy that are open to the public including the Honor Court and the Cadet Chapel.
